I don’t know about you but there’s a lot going on around the planet right now that is driving me a little bit crazy. I don’t watch the news or read the papers because I don’t believe they are impartial and I don’t want to be influenced in my decisions. My business keeps me in social media and here is where you learn all the aspects, good and bad, and see all types of views on topics, good and bad. There is a lot of sh!t too but that’s easy to sift out. I am quite a passionate person so I can get emotionally involved sometimes and I really don’t like feeling the way I have been recently. Fortunately I can turn my laptop off and find solace in other areas of my life but for some its not that easy.
Stress can cause a multitude of issues in our bodies. Headaches being the primary symptom. When we are stressed our bodies tense, our blood pressure rises and we tend to be distracted. In worse cases stress can cause illness.
There are a lot of ways to release stress and preferably not with anger. Burning it off is a great way. Go for a brisk walk or a swim. Not only are you releasing all that tension your body is producing feel-good hormones. Take three deep breaths. This returns your focus inward and is calming as it distracts you from your current thoughts. I, of course, reach for my oils. There are many essential oils you can use for relaxing with the obvious one being lavender. Citruses are amazing too, especially orange as it is the nerve balancer. You can try ylang ylang; bergamot; roman chamomile; geranium; frankincense; marjoram; clary sage or sandalwood.
To avoid headaches stay well hydrated, eat well, and get enough rest. Failing that, reach for peppermint oil. It is wonderfully cooling and soothing. Rub it on your temples, neck and across your shoulders (diluted in carrier oil if you’d prefer). Be careful not to get it in your eyes! There are other oils like lavender; frankincense and basil that you can try too. If headaches are a ‘thing’ for you, I suggest you make a roller bottle up so you have something handy to grab when you need it. You will thank me for it 😉
